Screenings

We offer free speech and language screenings. A screening generally consists of a 15-20 minute informal assessment of speech sound production, language (answering questions, following directions, repeating sentences, etc), auditory skills, and/or social language skills, which are based on the specific speech-language concern. Screenings are completed by a certified Speech-Language Pathologist in order to obtain an initial impression to make a recommendation for a full evaluation or to initiate speech/language therapy services.

Evaluation

An evaluation is a more compressive assessment where a variety of assessment tools (parent/client interview, review of health records, standardized testing, informal observation, speech-language sampling, etc) are used by the Speech-Language Pathologist in order to determine overall communication strengths and weaknesses. The results of the evaluation are then used to determine recommendations for therapy. An evaluation is completed by a certified Speech-Language Pathologist, and may take 1-4 hours depending on the need.

Therapy

Based on the results of the evaluation, speech-language therapy may be warranted. Evidenced based speech therapy techniques and strategies are used to improve communication. Measurable short and long term goals are developed based on each individual’s specific need.

Telepractice

Telepractice is the delivery of speech and language services via telecommunications technology linking the Speech-Language Pathologist to the client for the purpose of assessment, intervention (therapy), and consultation. Teletherapy services are equivalent to the services provided in-person. Teletherapy may not be appropriate for all clients and should be assessed prior to initiating services.
