I use evidence-based assessment and therapy approaches, while being mindful of every individual’s need, in order to assist each client in achieving their communication goals. About me:
When I am not working, I love spending my free time with my husband, my kids and grandkids, my sister, and my dog Chipper. I enjoy camping, crafting, gardening, reading and being outdoors. I hope to someday learn to play the piano.
Professional education and experience:
Shannon received her undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology in 2013 and her Master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Speech Language Pathology in 2015. As a certified Speech-Language Pathologist, Shannon has most recently worked in the academic setting providing speech, language, and auditory rehabilitation to students grades preschool to 8th grade, including students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Shannon also has experience working with children and adults of all ages in private practice, clinical settings, and via teletherapy. Finally, Shannon is an adjunct instructor and supervises graduate students in the Audiology and Speech Language Pathology Clinic at the University of Northern Colorado.
Prior to becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist, Shannon spent the early years of her professional career employed as a Registered Nurse. She received her Associated Degree in Nursing 1996 and spent the following twenty years working in critical care, including Intensive Care and Emergency departments. Shannon gained experience as a staff nurse and charge nurse. While continuing to maintain her license as a registered nurse, at this time, Shannon works predominantly as a speech language pathologist.
